SAPD: Man arrested after firing gunshots from hotel balcony along San Antonio River Walk

No injuries were reported and no property damage was found

SAN ANTONIO – A 33-year-old man was arrested after firing gunshots from a hotel balcony along the San Antonio River Walk overnight, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened around 12:25 a.m., Saturday, in the 200 block of S. Alamo Street at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio.

Officers said they heard sounds of gunfire in the area and later received a call for shots fired from a hotel balcony.

Upon further investigation, shell casings were found on the River Walk sidewalk beneath the hotel balconies facing westward, according to police.

Arrest teams were set up outside of the hotel room and officials were able to speak with the registered guests of the hotel room via the hotel phone.

Authorities said the incident was able to resolve peacefully and both of the hotel guests were taken into custody.

After sweeping the hotel room, police found evidence in plain view and a handgun. No victims or injuries were reported and no property damage was found, according to SAPD.

The 33-year-old man is charged with discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities and with unlawful carrying of weapons-firearm. The other hotel guest was released.
