2 men shot, hospitalized after late night trip to buy lottery tickets, San Antonio police say

One of the men is in serious condition, officials say

SAN ANTONIO – Two men are hospitalized after an overnight trip to a Circle K gas station for some lottery tickets ended in gunfire.

The shooting happened around 12:37 a.m., Saturday, in the 5900 block of Culebra.

San Antonio police said the two men were walking down Culebra Road, leaving Circle K after buying lottery tickets, when a red vehicle drove up and opened fire.

The victims told authorities initially they thought it was fireworks, but quickly realized that they had been shot.

One of the men was shot in the chest and was taken to University Hospital in serious condition. The other man was shot in the hand and was taken to University Hospital in stable condition, officials said.

The suspect is still at large and the only description given was a red vehicle, according to police.

The investigation is still ongoing.
