SAN ANTONIO – An investigation is underway after San Antonio police said human skeletal remains were found near a trail at the Jack White Park Trailhead.

Officers were called to the area around 1 p.m. Friday after someone on the trail notified police they found what appeared to be human skeletal remains just a few feet away.

The remains were found near a high water crossing area on Salado Creek, according to officials.

Authorities said it’s unclear how long the remains were out there, and there is an ongoing investigation into the individual’s death.

The remains are now in the custody of the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.
