Burglary suspect shot, killed by off-duty border patrol agent while attempting to break into pickup truck, SAPD says

Incident occurred just before 2 a.m. at Dalian 151 Apartments in 10000 block of Ingram Road

SAN ANTONIO – A burglary suspect was shot and killed by an off-duty border patrol agent while he was attempting to break into a pickup truck outside a far West Side apartment complex early Friday morning, San Antonio police said.

Officers were called just before 2 a.m. to the Dalian 151 Apartments in 10000 block of Ingram Road, not far from Highway 151 after receiving word of shots fired.

According to police, the off-duty border patrol agent was in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he saw four men trying to break into a truck. That’s when, police say, the border patrol agent confronted the burglary suspects and one of them pulled out a gun.

Police said the border patrol agent pulled out his gun in response and fired, hitting the suspect. The suspects got into a vehicle and fled.

Authorities say the suspects dropped the wounded suspect off at a nearby hospital, where he later died. The suspect’s identity and age are not currently known.

SAPD did not say what, if any charges are expected to be filed against the border patrol agent.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, police said.
