Thousands of gifts passed out during Toys for Tots giveaway

The giveaway was hosted by the Marine Reconnaissance Battalion

SAN ANTONIO – Thousands of gifts were passed out to children in the community at the Toys for Tots giveaway, relieving pressure for some families.

The giveaway is a longtime tradition hosted by the Marine Reconnaissance Battalion to help families for the holidays.

At least 10,000 families in the San Antonio area registered to pick up toys Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Hundreds of cars lined up to pick up toys at the M7 Aerospace, which is behind the San Antonio International airport.

A mother of eight, Cynthia Toney, says the help will allow her to focus on other important purchases.

“It just takes off that weight,” Toney said.

Gunnery Sergeant Jesus Cisneros grew up in a family of 10 and said he knows how important these toys are for some families.

“So now it’s come full circle, and it’s my turn to give back,” Cisneros said.
