Man hospitalized, pair in custody after shooting at South Side bar, San Antonio police say

Incident occurred around 1 a.m. in 8900 block of South Presa Street

SAN ANTONIO – One man is in the hospital and two others are in custody after an altercation at a South Side bar turned into a shooting early Friday morning, according to San Antonio police.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. at Thirsty’s bar in the 8900 block of South Presa Street, not far from Old Corpus Christi Road and Brooks City Base.

According to police, a fight broke out between two groups and a man was shot once in the chest.

Police said two men fled in a vehicle from the bar and were followed and caught by officers.

The wounded man was taken by ambulance to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.

SAPD did not say what the argument was, or identify the suspects.

The San Antonio Police Department, the San Antonio Fire Department and EMS all responded to the call.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
