SAN ANTONIO – Dozens of San Antonio families can have peace of mind regarding their child’s care as they pursue higher education thanks to a scholarship provided by United Way.

United Way SA held its Power to the Purse auction and raffle at the Security Service Event Center Wednesday, raising a record $230,000.

The non-profit pays $14,000 per year on average for 50+ childcare scholars and as high as $30,000 for families with multiple children, said a press release.

At the auction, many Child Care Scholars spoke on the scholarship’s impact on their lives, allowing them to get their degrees without worrying about the high cost of childcare.

The event also featured a Q&A with Supergoop! Founder Holly Thaggard started her business in San Antonio years ago and is still headquartered here.
