Man killed in self-defense shooting after stabbing another man, police say

The shooter likely won’t face charges due to self-defense

SAN ANTONIO – An unexpected visit to a man’s apartment quickly became deadly after a stabbing turned into a self-defense shooting, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened just before 8 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex in the 2300 block of Pinn Road.

Police said a 24-year-old man heard a knock on his apartment door. When he answered it, a 67-year-old man, who he has had issues with in the past, stabbed him in the chest.

In an act of self-defense, officers said the man who was stabbed pulled a pistol and fired multiple rounds, striking the 67-year-old.

The man who was shot died at the scene. His identity hasn’t been released.

Police said the 24-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He likely won’t face any charges due to self-defense, but investigators will make the final determination.

No other injuries were reported. Two relatives of the stabbing victim were inside the apartment at the time of the incident.

Officers will be questioning them during the investigation.

We’ll bring more updates to this story as they become available.
