Parents arrested after 9-month-old girl nearly drowns in bathtub

SAN ANTONIO – The parents of a 9-month-old baby girl were arrested after she nearly drowned in a bathtub.

According to San Antonio police, the baby’s mother called police around 2:30 a.m. Friday saying that her baby was drowning in a bathtub at their apartment complex in the 11400 block of Vance Jackson Road.

Police said the couple left the baby in the bathtub by herself for about three to five minutes while they took out the trash.

When they returned, the baby was fully submerged and unresponsive, police said.

The parents, ages 24 and 26, were able to get the baby to breathe again.

She was transported to a hospital in stable condition.

The parents were both arrested on a charge of injury to a child.

Child Protective Services took custody of the baby, police said.
