SAN ANTONIO – With air travel up considerably, especially now, and the holiday season is in full swing, you may be unable to park your vehicle at the San Antonio International Airport.
Parking spots at the airport’s parking garage and lots can be a hot commodity, but when none are available, you don’t have to panic immediately.
Parking options are available, and a few are near the San Antonio airport.
One option is across from the airport, Airport Security Parking, located at 1106 Halm Boulevard.
Airport Security Parking is not associated with the airport at all.
The family-owned business has been operated for more than 50 years.
It has two parking lots with about 2,000 covered and uncovered parking spots.
Around-the-clock security is available, and the business offers a 24-hour shuttle bus service to and from the airport.
While it is an option, the lots fill up quickly.
If both parking lots are filled, there are a couple of other possibilities, but you will have to go down the access road of Loop 410.
The Estancia del Notre Hotel is located on the right-hand side at the intersection of Loop 410 and McCullough. The hotel, located at 37 NE Loop 410 at McCullough, offers airport parking.
According to a hotel manager, anyone parking at the hotel is required to go inside and speak with someone at the check-in desk to see if there are any available parking spots because hotel guests have priority.
If a spot is available, you will have to register your vehicle with the hotel, and you will be informed how much it will cost to park at the hotel.
Once your vehicle is authorized to park on the premises, you can board the shuttle bus to the airport.
In the event you are not able to park at the Estancia del Norte, another hotel just further down the access road may be able to accommodate you.
The Double Tree by Hilton is behind The Pyramid, which is located at 611 Northwest Loop 410.
The Double Tree’s parking garage is behind the hotel, but to park in it, you must reserve a parking space online through a third party like globalairportparking.com.
Your agreement to park in Double Tree’s parking garage is between you and the third party, so if an issue arises, Double Tree is not involved.
The shuttle service to the airport runs every 15 to 20 minutes, but again, hotel guests will have priority when getting on the shuttles.
Globalairportparking.com and other airport parking websites list other hotels in San Antonio that offer parking for a fee and shuttle service to the city’s airport.
Another example is The Hilton Garden Inn San Antonio Airport South on Broadway, which is listed on the website onestopparking.com.
A reservation is also required to park here, and you must go inside to receive a parking pass.
The Hilton Garden Inn uses Lyft rideshare to provide the hotel’s shuttle service to the airport.
Some travelers can avoid paying for parking altogether by parking at VIA’s Stone Oak Park and Ride.
You can park on the third floor of the parking garage in designated parking spots.
After parking, go to the first floor and board the non-stop Route #7 Express/Airport bus. You will be dropped off at the airport in about 15 to 20 minutes.
The cost is $2.60 each way per passenger.
The Route #7 Express/Airport bus to the San Antonio International Airport runs Monday through Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Bus rides back to the Park and Ride and shuttle service from the airport back to the respective hotels where you parked are available.
Whether you park at the airport, in public parking lots, at local hotels, or VIA’s Stone Oak Park and Ride, parking is based on availability, and it is best to plan early.
