PARK CITY, Utah – The 2025 Sundance Film Festival will premiere a new documentary about Selena Quintanilla with never-before-seen footage.
“Selena y Los Dinos” will be screened in January as part of the U.S. Documentary Competition, 30 years after Yolanda Saldivar killed the Tejano music icon.

The film will be about Quintanilla’s life and legacy, including moments from her life on tour and home videos that have not been released from the musician’s family archives.
According to Sundance’s website, the documentary aims to “capture the singers exuberance, humility and the profound bond she shared with her family.”
“Selena y Los Dinos” is executive produced by Selena’s siblings Suzette and AB Quintanilla III.
Five-time Emmy nominee Isabel Castro is the director. According to the International Documentary Association, her debut feature film, “Mija,” follows two American-born children of undocumented families as they work their way through the music industry.
The “Queen of Tejano Music,” as she was known, has been honored with several different media tributes.
In 1997, the documentary “Selena Remembered” was released, narrated by Edward James Olmos.
That same year, a narrative film titled “Selena” was released, starring Jennifer Lopez. This film has seen its share of popularity, even being inducted into the National Film Registry in 2021.
Lopez is set to feature in “Kiss of the Spider Woman" at the festival.
Netflix released a scripted series in 2020 with Christian Serratos as Selena.
The documentary is set to premiere a couple of months before Saldivar will be eligible for parole in March 2025.
