SAN ANTONIO – Southwest Independent School District has a new acting leader following the resignation of its superintendent.
The school board accepted the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Jeanette Ball in a recent meeting. Deputy Superintendent Brandon Crisp was named interim superintendent.
Crisp has been with the district for 17 years, according to a district news release. Since joining Southwest ISD in 2009 as a teacher and coach, he has served in a variety of leadership roles.
“I am honored to serve Southwest ISD in this capacity,” Crisp said in a news release. “Our priority remains creating an excellent learning environment and supporting our educators, staff, and families. I look forward to working closely with the Board and our leadership team to maintain our positive momentum.”
Ball leaves behind a notable legacy, including $250 million in campus improvements, a new elementary school and a district academic rating that climbed from a “C” to a “B” in recent years.
The school board is now searching for a permanent superintendent. Classes at Southwest ISD are set to begin Aug. 24.
