Man run over while sleeping in downtown San Antonio parking lot; Driver flees, SAPD says

SAN ANTONIO – A man was hospitalized after a vehicle ran him over while he slept in a parking lot in downtown San Antonio, according to the police department.

Officers were dispatched to the scene around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of East Houston Street. According to a San Antonio Police Department preliminary report, an unknown vehicle ran over a 26-year-old man while he slept.

After being hit, the man ran to a nearby location and called for emergency medical services, SAPD said. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver fled the scene without helping the man.

When found, the driver will be charged with collision involving injury, according to the report.

The investigation is ongoing.
