Texas lottery wants more millionaires, increases chances to win

SAN ANTONIO – Tickets for the redesigned Mega Millions game will go on sale Oct. 28.

The game will have larger starting jackpots, faster rolls and better chances to win a $1 million prize.

“This redesign will keep the game fresh and entertaining for players and position us to continue to generate revenue for Texas education,” executive director of the Texas Lottery, Gary Grief, said.

Starting jackpots for the multi-state game will more than double from the current $15 million to $40 million, and the ticket price will increase from $1 to $2 per play, according to a press release.

The newly redesigned game will let players choose five numbers from one to 70 and one Mega Ball number from one to 25.

Chances of winning a prize will be one in 24 for the Mega Millions lottery.
