DALLAS – Michael Sam will reportedly take a physical for the Cowboys on Wednesday after he flew into Dallas late Tuesday night.
ESPN reports Sam will be signed to the Cowboys practice squad if he passes the physical.
Sam is the first openly gay player to suit up in the NFL and was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the 7th Round, but failed to make their final 53 man roster and was cut Saturday.
The Rams did not sign Sam to their practice squad and he cleared waivers, making him free to sign with any team.
The Cowboys need help on the defense line after losing rookie DeMarcus Lawrence for the first half of the season.
Sam put together a solid preseason, tallying 11 tackles and three sacks.
