Wednesday afternoon, the USL Championship named Marcina the Coach of the Month for August after he led the Alamo City club to a 5-0-2 record. Marcina is the first coach in SAFC history to receive the award, which is voted on by members of the USL Championship National Media Panel and the USL Championship Technical Committee. San Antonio outscored opponents 17-4 over the course of those seven matches, tied for the most scored in a single month in club history.

“It’s an honor to receive this award,” Marcina said. “To me, this is a team award and serves as recognition of the collective commitment of all players and staff. I am blessed to work alongside high-character and high-performing people who share our values and vision, and who are committed to upholding the daily standards set forth by the team.”

San Antonio FC is currently tied atop the entire USL standings with 27 total points, and has the opportunity to clinch the club’s first playoff berth since 2017 this Saturday night if they can defeat El Paso Locomotive. The match is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. CT.
