Harlandale ISD has opened school board applications to replace District 2 board member Christine Carrillo, who resigned from her position following her recent arrest late last year.

Although polling has shown the majority of Americans support Dreamers like Carrillo, DACA has been likened to political football that’s been tossed back and forth ever since President Obama signed the executive order creating the program. AdCarrillo said she wants bipartisan support for the new legislation, although the emergency on the Southwest border may serve as a “red flag” to opponents. SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance to find the person responsible for the death of 63-year-old Amanda Carrillo in a car accident on March 20. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered by the department. Carrillo was struck by an unidentified car while attempting to cross South WW White in front of Lockaway Storage, and then the driver fled the scene without rendering help, police said. The car will have a broken passenger headlight and additional damage to the right side near the front bumper, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call 210-207-7579.

A US Naval Academy midshipman who played on the school football team has died — the second midshipman death in two weeks. David Forney, 22, was found unresponsive Thursday in Bancroft Hall, the Naval Academy said in a statement posted on the school Facebook page. Bancroft Hall is the massive dormitory complex where all 4,500 midshipmen at the Naval Academy live. Midshipman Duke Carrillo of Flower Mound, Texas, died February 8 during a semi-annual physical readiness test, according to the US Naval Academy website. “Circumstances surrounding the cause of his death are under review,” the Naval Academy said.
