Relive the historic O.J. Simpson case by watching ‘American Crime Story,’ now on Netflix

If you were old enough to remember the O.J. Simpson trial, then you surely will never forget the day the verdict was released.

Yes, ‘Schitt’s Creek’ deserved all of those Emmys, and you can finally watch the final season on Netflix Oct. 7

On Sunday evening’s socially distanced Emmy Awards, the Canadian comedy “Schitt’s Creek” made TV history by sweeping all of the major comedy awards it was nominated for, including all of the acting categories. “Schitt’s Creek” follows the rich Rose family, which is forced to move into a motel in the small town of Schitt’s Creek after they lose all of their money. It’s a fish out of water-type scenario, but as the Rose family begins to assimilate to the quirky town, viewers begin to fall in love with the quirky Roses. In reality, the cast of “Schitt’s Creek” should have been getting recognized by the Emmys for years now, but it was only until 2019 that the show and actors got recognized for their work. But there is no better way to go out on your last season of TV than by making history, right?

Aniston is award-worthy first responder in Emmy fire skit

LOS ANGELES – Jennifer Aniston missed out on an Emmy but proved herself as an award-worthy first responder when a ceremony stunt got overheated. In a bit during Sunday night's Emmys, host Jimmy Kimmel sprayed an envelope holding a winner's name with disinfectant then, for good measure, dropped it in a wire wastebasket and set it on fire. So far, so good, ceremony executive producer Reginald Hudlin said Monday. A test had been run beforehand, with a booster added to make the fire more visible, and things were going as planned when the scene was shot — including Aniston to the rescue. She sprayed the wastebasket again, but as she and Kimmel bantered the fire flared again, bigger, and "we're like 'uh oh,'" Hudlin said.

Primetime Emmy awards show ratings drop to all-time low

Jimmy Kimmel and actress Jennifer Aniston presented the award for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series together at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. Despite stacked odds, the 72nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards went off without a hitch Sunday night. In early estimates from Nielsen Monday, it appears the event saw the lowest viewership of any Emmy ceremony in the Television Academy's history, drawing only 5.1 million total viewers. The game between the New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks on NBC tallied 12.2 million viewers, dwarfing the Emmy numbers. The season premiere of "60 Minutes" on CBS drew in 7.5 million viewers.

'Schitt's Creek' has record-setting Emmy sweep, while HBO scores big with 'Watchmen,' 'Succession'

Dan Levy congratulates fellow "Schitt's Creek" star Annie Murphy on her Emmy win for best supporting actress in a comedy series. Premium cable network HBO dominated the limited series and drama categories, hauling in the majority of its awards for its critically-acclaimed shows "Watchmen" and "Succession." With those acting wins "Schitt's Creek" has become the first TV show to sweep all four acting awards in the comedy or drama categories in Emmy history. "Schitt's Creek," which aired its sixth and final season earlier this year, previously had not won any Emmy awards for the show. Catherine O'Hara and Eugene Levy took home the awards for best lead actress and best lead actress in a comedy series.

'Veep', 'Game of Thrones' ride sentimental wave into Emmys

(CNN) - The Emmys usually offer a mix of old and new, but sentimental favorites could be more pronounced at this year's nominations, with "Game of Thrones" defending its crown, "Veep" waging its final campaign and "The Big Bang Theory" having a shot at one last big bang. New series can bring freshness to the awards, even if "The Kominsky Method" brings old pros Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin into play. Wild cards include NBC's quirky "The Good Place," Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Amazon import "Fleabag," and Netflix's "GLOW" and "Russian Doll." In that respect, if the 2019 Emmys feel messier and more disjointed than usual, they might just be a teaser of what's to come. The main Emmy telecast will be held Sept. 22 and televised live by Fox.
