While February’s deadly winter storm not only left hundreds of thousands of San Antonio residents without power in subfreezing temperatures, some for days on end, it also exposed a large number of organizational issues within CPS Energy, the largest public power company in the nation.

Why is it important to place an emphasis on diversity and inclusion? At Alamo Colleges, my colleagues and administration focus on inclusion and diversity efforts throughout the organization. Diversity in our business partnerships is yet another very critical area that must be evaluated. Small minority, woman, and veteran business owners must have a fair opportunity to do business with Alamo Colleges. A recent report provided by the Fair Contracting Coalition (FCC) indicated that this year Alamo Colleges received a C rating in their assessment of diversity and inclusion of business partners.
