No. 9 Nebraska defeated No. 1 Texas 8-5 on Saturday in the University of Texas at San Antonio Softball Invitational, avenging a loss from the previous day and handing the defending national champions their first defeat of the young season.

Texas Longhorns junior utility player Leighann Goode now has an NCAA softball national championship to go with her high school state championship.

The 2025 NCAA Division 1 Softball National Champion will be a Texas team. Both the University of Texas and Texas Tech University are playing for the opportunity to win their first national title.
