The idea started out as a simple blog. Twin sisters, who loved to read, began writing book reviews. The idea then grew to a city-wide initiative, and now, the San Antonio teenagers are representing literacy on a national level from a big Hollywood name.

Literacy and access to books is a known problem in rural communities south of Loop 410, where wireless internet is limited, and there are no public libraries or community centers.

If you walk around McCollum High School, you'll see five different bookshelves with the sign Cowboys Read! The books filling those shelves are not library books. Instead. these new, current and exciting books are free to students.

Digital literacy and technology can help break the social isolation adults may experience as they age because they may live alone, have lost a spouse or loved one, or have limited mobility.
