San Antonio City Council District 1 incumbent Sukh Kaur and challenger Patty Gibbons will advance to a runoff, after no candidate secured 50% of the vote in the May 3 election.

Incumbent Sukh Kaur is seeking a second term as San Antonio District 1 councilwoman, and faces nearly a dozen challengers in the May 2025 election.

Gonzales, who was on death row for the rape and murder of Bridget Townsend in Medina County, is the second person to be executed in Texas this year.
