San Antonio’s Transportation Department is hosting four planned community open house meetings beginning this week, inviting the public to provide feedback on pedestrian safety around the forthcoming Green Line project.

VIA Metropolitan Transit and Bexar County leaders helped open an East Side community office ahead of the forthcoming Silver Line, one of two Advanced Rapid Transit lines planned by the agency.

VIA’s Green Line, an 11.7-mile service that will connect the airport to the historic missions, is expected to start in 2027.

The route would connect the East and West Sides of San Antonio through downtown.

It’s taken 60 years and billions of dollars, but mass transit is finally coming to Dulles International Airport outside the nation’s capital.
