Some San Antonio neighborhoods are way hotter than others — here's why

Some San Antonio neighborhoods can be 10+ degrees hotter than others — and the city now has the data to prove it. Using temperature sensors and heat maps, officials have pinpointed the four hottest areas in Districts 2, 3, 4, and 5 — many of which have little tree canopy and high social vulnerability. The city is fighting back with more than 50 strategies — think reflective pavement, more trees, and a cool roofs program that actually installs white shingles on residents' homes.
