A threat for heavy rainfall next week. Here’s what we’re watching

• HEAVY RAINFALL POSSIBLE: Flooding will be a threat this week

FORECAST

ISOLATED STORMS THIS AFTERNOON

The first half of today will be spent with partly cloudy skies and more warmth. We’ll top out in the mid-90s. By the afternoon, a disturbance moving in from the northwest will help to stir up storms in the Hill Country. The storms may make a run at San Antonio by the evening. Rain chances sit at 20%.

RAINFALL NEXT WEEK

While we expect Monday and Tuesday to be relatively quiet, an approaching storm system, deep moisture, and a slow-moving front will combine to give us a threat for heavy rainfall starting late Wednesday. The timing of this event is coming into focus, however, expect changes in the finer details. Here’s the latest:

• WEDNESDAY: We expect most of the day to be quiet. But, we will be watching what is unfolding to our northwest. A line or cluster of storms may form and work into the South-Central Texas by Wednesday night. Should any storms form Wednesday afternoon, severe weather would be possible, along with flooding.

• THURSDAY: Our best shot at rainfall. Storms are possible Thursday morning and may linger throughout the day, depending on the movement of a slow-moving front. Flooding is a threat. Temperatures will be cooler due to clouds and rainfall.

• FRIDAY-SUNDAY: It’s possible that rain chances could linger into the weekend. While not as heavy, we’ll continue to watch for any additional flood threat. Otherwise, it will be cooler, with highs staying in the 80s.
