'The Bachelor' Blog: Tearful goodbyes ahead of hometown dates

Corinne rejected during her attempt to get lucky

SAN ANTONIO – First off, I’m still in shock and fired up over the announcement about the new “The Bachelorette.” You know I have a lot to say about that, but let’s talk first about Monday night’s episode of "The Bachelor".

Will he stay or will he go? That question has been lingering over Bachelor Nation’s head since Nick’s dramatic walk out. Alas, his love for the remaining women gave him the strength to tough it out a little longer.

Moving forward, the show took off for Bimini, because that’s everyone’s dream vacation destination. (In case you were wondering, it’s in the Bahamas.)

Vanessa got the first one-on-one date and Corinne wanted to explode. Once again we were sucked into dramatic Corinne land. Ugh. I am so tired of talking about her! Maybe she just needs to take some more naps, or perhaps her nanny Raquel can calm her down.

Let’s move on to Vanessa’s date. After some much needed reassurance, she was eager to tell Nick she’s falling in love with him, but his response could not have been more awkward. Basically, he said, “I like you a lot.” Yikes! (We’ve heard that before! Remember when Juan Pablo said that to Nikki on his finale? We all know how well that relationship worked out!)

Anyway, Nick said he’s taking things slow. Poor Vanessa. I don’t blame her at all for feeling blindsided by that lack luster response.

Corinne kept the crazy alive on the group date. When Nick told the ladies they would be swimming with sharks, Corinne asked, “Are they toothless?”

You heard me right. “Are they toothless?” I mean, seriously.

In that moment I don’t think anyone would have minded if the ladies, or Nick, threw her overboard. That didn’t happen so we’re stuck with her a little longer. Much to her frustration, the group date was all about Kristina. But in the end it was Raven who got the rose, and guaranteed herself a hometown date. I can’t get enough of Raven! I definitely think she’s making it to the final two.

Danielle M. got the next one-on-one date and things did not go as planned. Their chemistry fizzled and Nick friend zoned her hard. Cue the dramatic heartbreak music. This was difficult to watch because she is the sweetest. I hope she finds her Prince Charming.

Just when you thought Corinne had done it all, she surprised Nick in his room and offered herself to him. Much to her embarrassment, he put the brakes on everything. Thank goodness. He earned a cool point for that one. It’s about time he got her under control. There are so many things I could say about her shady attempt to get some action, but I’m going to bite my tongue.

Rachel got the last one-on-one date and everything went off without a hitch. Things were easy, natural and all signs pointed to a successful hometown date. (Or not. Hang tight for that craziness.)

The most shocking moment came when Nick sent Kristina home. My jaw almost hit the ground. He told her he had stronger relationships with other women. Wow. Just wow. Who saw that coming? How could he get rid of her before Corinne?! Oh Nick, you dropped the ball on that one.

Next week we’ll find out who get the hometown dates. It’s clear no one is safe.

Now to the shocking “The Bachelorette” news.

The announcement was made on Jimmy Kimmel and I was so irritated I couldn’t even watch the whole thing. Not because of who it is, but because she’s still on this season of “The Bachelor!”

Way to spoil that one for us!

I’m talking about Rachel. I can only assume something goes terribly wrong on her hometown date. This is so baffling to me! She got the first impression rose so that means something went horribly wrong if it’s almost the end of the line for her and Nick. Either way, this news has taken so much of the fun out of this season for me.

Don’t get me wrong. I love Rachel. She’s beautiful, smart and I think she will make an interesting bachelorette. But come on. Couldn’t they have waited a little longer to drop that bombshell?

Don't miss a minute of the romance Mondays at 7 p.m. on KSAT 12.
