Original ride at Six Flags Fiesta Texas to close after 25 years

Power Surge opened in 1992

SAN ANTONIO – One of the original rides at Six Flags Fiesta Texas will close on Sunday after a quarter of a century in operation.

The “Power Surge” water attraction in the Rockville themed area of the amusement park has been operating since Fiesta Texas opened in 1992.

The nostalgic flat boat attraction transports guests along a channel and shoots down the rapids, splashing all bystanders standing on an overhead bridge.

Six Flags officials said the ride will officially be retired forever into Fiesta Texas history.

Synde Purvis, Six Flags Fiesta Texas communications manager, said no plans have been announced to replace the attraction or to use the existing area for something else.

We hate goodbyes but all good things must come to an end: Power Surge will be powering down and closing forever on July 23, 2017. Get soaked one more time and say farewell! 🌊💦
