Flooding Latest: Llano River rises; homes flooded in Kingsland

City officials in Marble Falls are asking residents and businesses to minimize their water usage today. The Marble Falls wastewater plant is stressed due to flooding. Officials are asking people not to do laundry, wash dishes and to minimize showering and toilet flushing.

Homes along the river bank where the Llano and Colorado rivers merge in Kingsland are taking in water.

Authorities are telling residents along the Llano River to evacuate after intense rains caused flooding in Kingsland, KTBC in Austin reports.

Officials said early Tuesday that the RM 2900 bridge in Kingsland was washed away by flood waters.

Residents within 1/4 mile of the north and south banks can head to open evacuation centers and shelters, KTBC said.

KTBC says north Llano residents can go to Oesteriech's Rose located at 809 West Young Street and those in south Llano east of Flag Creek can evacuate to the First Baptist Church on Luce Street.

The Community Center on Rose Hill Drive has opened for evacuees in Kingsland.

Forecasters are telling people along the Llano River in Central Texas to seek higher ground after more than 10 inches of rain fell in the past day and a half.

The National Weather Service says the river at Llano, about 65 miles northwest of Austin, was expected to crest Tuesday at near-record levels.  

Last week, four people were swept away in floodwaters along the South Llano River in Junction. The bodies of three were recovered and one person remains missing.

The National Weather Service also issued a flood warning for the Guadalupe River at the following places: 

  • Guadalupe River at Hunt Affecting Kerr County
  • Guadalupe River At Kerrville Affecting Kerr County
  • Guadalupe River At Comfort Affecting Kendall County

The NWS says all persons with interests along the river should monitor the latest forecasts, and be prepared to take necessary precautions to protect life and property.

Here's the latest on the flood warning for the Guadalupe River at Hunt via NWS:

  • At 8:15 a.m. Tuesday the stage was 18.4 feet. Flood stage is 10.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.

Here's the latest on the flood warning for the Guadalupe River at Kerrville via NWS:

  • At 7:45 a.m. Tuesday the stage was 13.9 feet. Flood stage is 9.0 feet. Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast. The river will continue rising to near 18.0 feet by late this morning. The river will fall below flood stage after midnight tomorrow.

Here's the latest on the flood warning continues for the Guadalupe River at Comfort via NWS:

  • At 7:45 a.m. Tuesday the stage was 20.2 feet. Flood stage is 21.0 feet. Major flooding is forecast with it expecting to rise above flood stage by this morning and continue to rise to near 28.2 feet by this afternoon. The river will fall below flood stage by this evening.
