SAN ANTONIO – Barring any last minute appeals, Frank Garcia, 38, will be put to death on Thursday.
Garcia shot and killed his wife Jessica, 21, and Hector Garza, 48, a veteran San Antonio police officer, on March 29, 2001.

Garza was answering a domestic disturbance call at the couple's South side home.
Jessica Garcia was in the process of leaving her husband. The pair had a history of domestic violence, according to Bexar County District Attorney Susan Reed.
"(Garcia) is the poster child for domestic violence," Reed said.
Garcia shot his wife and Garza with an assault rifle in the bedroom of the couple's home after he arrived home unexpectedly to find his wife in the process of moving out.
Reed personally prosecuted Garcia the following winter. It took the jury less than two hours to convict him. Another two hours to decide his punishment: execution.
On Wednesday, Reed said that for the first time in her career as a lawyer, a district judge and district attorney, she plans to attend an execution.
She said the case "resonated" with her.
"This case has touched the lives of so many San Antonians", Reed said.
Garcia is scheduled to die by lethal injection at 6 p.m. on Thursday.
