SAN ANTONIO – Three Mexican eateries recently failed their health inspection for several violations that included unwashed hands, insects and dishes that were not being washed properly.
La Fonda Mexican Restaurant in Oak Hills off Fredericksburg Road failed with 42 demerits.

The inspector reported:
- An employee handled raw food and prepared food without washing their hands.
- Evidence of insects were observed.
- Not all cooks had hair nets.
The staff was told the entire establishment needed to be cleaned.
KSAT-12's Behind the Kitchen Door was referred to the owner about their score, but have not spoken to him directly.
Lazaritas Mexican Restaurant is located on South WW White. They failed with 39 demerits.
- There were food temperature concerns.
- Improper food storage.
- No knowledge of proper dish washing and sanitizing.
The manager said the temperature issues arose because the inspector came between the busy breakfast and lunch shifts.
The manager added their failing score was "not a big deal," but also said they've fixed what was wrong.
La Bandera Molino is located on North Zarzamora. The manager a lot of little things led to their 34 demerits.
Things like:
- Improper hand washing.
- Foods not properly covered.
- Bleach too close to food items.
The manager said they're usually on top of things, but got sidetracked by tamale season.
The manager warned the staff to follow the rules even though they're extra busy.

Coyote Canyon, off Marbach and Loop 410, failed their inspection last spring and was featured on KSAT-12.
Metro Health reported Coyote Canyon just received a perfect score.
