Yuchnitz's wife takes stand in murder-for-hire trial

SAN ANTONIO – The high-profile divorce trial between discount eyewear store owner Mike Yuchnitz and his wife continued on Wednesday with Yuchnitz's wife on the stand.

Tina Yuchnitz broke down several times on the stand when she talked about her life after police said her husband tried to have her killed.

Tina Yuchnitz initiated divorce proceedings the day after her husband was arrested for trying to hire a hit man to kill her.

On the stand on Wednesday, she talked about the stress-related health problems she has had since that day and about not being able to sleep and hiring private security because she has been so scared.

Tina Yuchnitz wife also talked about an incident where she was unable to open her safe in the house for police because the locks had been changed.

When a locksmith was hired to open it, she said everything, including $120,000, was gone.

During Mike Yuchnitz's testimoney last week, he said Tina was unhappy about his son's marriage and that his wife was physically abusive toward him.

Attorneys also questioned Tina on Wednesday about what was her property and what was community property.

She's scheduled to take the stand again Thursday morning.
