San Marcos stabbing suspect arrested

Michael Cuellar, 27, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to San Marcos police, Cuellar stabbed a man during an argument at a bar.

SAN MARCOS, Texas – A man accused of stabbing a man early Wednesday morning was arrested later that afternoon, San Marcos police said.

Police said Maurice Brown, 28, of Lockhart was found with a stab wound to the chest just after 2 a.m. near the intersection of Guadalupe and San Antonio Street. He was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Investigators said Brown was in San Marcos with Michael Cuellar, 27, and a few other friends at a bar Tuesday night. When the bar closed, detectives said Cuellar was arguing with his friends and threatened one of them with a knife, stabbed Brown and ran away.

Cuellar, a registered sex offender in Lockhart, was arrested on aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges, and additional charges are pending.
