SAN ANTONIO – Foundations and groups supporting parenting education, the elderly, disabled and child abuse prevention among others were awarded grants by the Kronkosky Foundation worth more than $6 million Friday.
The Kronkosky Charitable Foundation works mostly in Bandera, Bexar, Comal and Kendall counties, targeting programs with a broad range of needs. Among the 58 grants totaling $6.6 million, the program Precious Minds, New Connections received the largest grant of $2.7 million.

Precious Minds, New Connections is a parenting education program that works to free children from abuse and neglect—before any problems begin.
"All new parents realize quickly that babies don't come with instruction manuals, and this is a program every parent will find helpful in his and her most important responsibility," said Palmer Moe, managing director of the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation.
Seven grants worth $704,900 were awarded to other agencies working to prevent child abuse. Those agencies are Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc., Avance and Seton Home.
The Autism Community Network, Haven for Hope, obesity prevention projects and Alpha Home and Lifetime Recovery were awarded more than $1.5 million for health and wellness related initiatives.
Grants were also given to aid the elderly, disabled, childhood development, brain research and animal abuse prevention programs. Click here to see a detailed list of all the grants awarded.
