The enrollment figure includes more than 1,000 freshmen students and upwards of 700 students at UIW's academic sites in Guangzhou, China and Mexico City, Mexico.
"This is a historic achievement for us," said UIW President Louis J. Agnese, Jr. "We continue to be one of the fastest growing universities in the state by offering innovative academic programs. It also shows the UIW brand is becoming better known each year, not just in South Texas but throughout the country and internationally."
UIW offers 80 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, and the university continues to add new programs to serve the community.
