Bitterwood Ranch Apartment residents displaced following fire

3 pets rescued in fire at 400 block of West Bitters

A fire displaced 23 residents, including two children, from a North Side apartment complex following a two-alarm fire Friday afternoon.

No injuries were reported at the Bitterwood Ranch Apartments.

Fire officials said 14 units at Building 17 were damaged by the fire.

Three pets were rescued from the fire that started at 1:45 p.m. in the 400 block of West Bitters Road.

San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said fortunately the fire happened during a time of the day when most residents are either at work or school.
"A lot of these people that live at these apartments were not at home, so we're making every effort to contact them as quickly as we can. We have accounted for everyone in the building and we're reporting an all clear," Hood said.

Fire officials were looking into a cause.
