Family files abuse suit against Morningside Ministries

The family of a woman living at a local assisted living facility is suing the facility and one of its employees after a patient is caught on camera being abused.

Rose Mendez-Rodriguez filed the lawsuit against Morningside Ministries and employee Quintin Berry.

The lawsuit claims Berry was caught on video physically and verbally abusing Mendez's mother, who she says has dementia and cannot speak.

The suit also alleges that Morningside Ministries was negligent in hiring Berry.

In a statement, the ministry said that every employee is screened and completes a mandatory orientation that includes residents' rights, including issues of abuse, neglect and exploration.
