Driver charged with intoxication manslaughter

Manuel Ortalejo, 30, behind wheel in crash that killed Elizabeth Villasana, 38

The driver involved in a crash over the weekend that killed a local woman has been identified.

San Antonio police investigators say 30-year-old Manuel Ortalejo has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

Investigators say Ortalejo was speeding in the 300 block of Basse Road around 3 a.m. on Saturday.

They say he lost control, causing the vehicle to skid and then crashed into a tree.

His passenger, 38-year-old Elizabeth Villasana, was taken by medical helicopter to University Hospital, where she later died.

Witnesses say Ortalejo was speeding through an intersection and crashed after swerving to to miss another vehicle.

Police later determined he had been drinking and driving.
