Woman fatally stuck by taxi while walking on NE Side

SAPD: Taxi driver blinded by oncoming headlights

SAN ANTONIO – A woman was struck and killed by a taxi driver while she was walking on the Northeast Side late Tuesday night.

The taxi driver told San Antonio police he was blinded by oncoming headlights and that is why he did not see the woman crossing a highway.

The cab hit the woman shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on FM 78 near Springfield Road.

Officers at the scene said the 32-year-old woman had walked from a grassy area along the highway, across a turn lane and into a main lane of traffic.

That's where a Yellow Cab company taxi hit her, police said. The driver of the cab is not expected to face any charges, police said.

The woman's name was not immediately released.
