Witte Museum named as Smithonian affiliate Parternship will bring official Smithsonian artifacts, exhibits to San Antonio No description found
SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio's historic Witte Museum is being named as an official Smithsonian Institution Affiliate.
Marise McDermott, president and CEO of the Witte Museum, and San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor will join Harold Closter, director of Smithsonian Affiliations, for the official announcement on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 10 a.m. at the Witte Museum, located int he 3800 block of Broadway.
According to a statement issued by the Witte, Smithsonian Affiliations is designed to "facilitate a two-way relationship among Smithsonian Affiliates and the Smithsonian to increase discovery and inspire lifelong learning in communities across America."
As a result of the partnership, the Witte will be able to host official Smithsonian artifacts and traveling exhibitions, in addition to developing educational collaborations locally and nationally.
