5 SA schools have charters revoked

Schools may request informal review regarding TEA decision

SAN ANTONIO – Five San Antonio charter schools are having their charter revoked for failing to meet academic or financial performance ratings for three years in a row.

Those schools are: the Academy of Careers and Technologies; City Center Health Careers; the Henry Ford Academy Alameda School for Art and Design; the Higgs, Carter, King Gifted & Talented Charter Academy and the San Antonio Technology Academy.

These ratings had to be met under the rules set out in Senate Bill 2, passed in 2013.

Each school may request an informal review regarding the Texas Education Agency's decision.

A judge could have the ultimate say in revoking a school's charter.
