The Bachelor Blog: Farmer Chris heads to the city in search of love

30 Women Step Out in Style for the Premiere of ABC's 'The Bachelor'

Let's be honest. After the train wreck that was Juan Pablo's season of "The Bachelor," fans of the show were ready for a fresh start.

I was so excited when they picked good ole' boy Chris Soules to win over the hearts of "Bachelor" fans everywhere!

The fourth generation farmer was sent home by Andi Dorfman during last season of "The Bachlorette," and now he is calling the shots in his quest for love. During the premiere episode, we got a glimpse into the life of this small town man from Arlington, Iowa.

For those of you unfamiliar with that area, there are only 427 people who live in that town. Chris made it clear the dating pool is pretty shallow there.

Memorable limo entrances:

Britt: The first woman out of the limo, greeted Chris with a long, painfully awkward hug (and heavy breathing was involved).

Reegan: I cringed when this donated tissue specialist presented Chris with a fake heart… creepy!

Tara: She stepped out the limo in very short cut off shorts and cowboy boots. Then after a wardrobe change, she snuck back in the limo for another grand entrance in a slinky, black dress.

Cocktail Party:

After only meeting 15 women, host Christ Harrison let the Bachelor in the house for the cocktail party. I couldn't contain my excitement when he gave the first impression rose to Britt.

Despite their awkward introduction, the pair had chemistry from the start! Fireworks also flew during their alone time together. All I can say is the other ladies better watch out. I'm calling it now, I definitely think Britt will make it to hometown dates!

Just as Chris was getting to know those 15 ladies, more limos pulled up to the mansion with 15 more ladies. As the night went on the claws came out as each of the women fought to get alone time with the dreamy farmer.

The drinks also came out, lots of them. Some of the ladies indulged more than others, and it was painful to watch.

Tara was one of the women who did not know her limits. She made a lasting impression, but not in a good way. I could not help but shake my head as I watched her lose control.

During a strange twist, Bachelor Chris walked out during the rose ceremony, torn about whether or not to send drunk Tara home.

At the end of the night only 22 women received roses, and yes, I reluctantly say Tara was one of them.

But Kimberly was one of the women who did not receive a rose. Still, that did not stop her from going back into the house to speak to Chris one last time. But what did she say to him? This "Bachelor" junkie is left on edge until next week.

So here are my top picks for this season:

Britt: Waitress from Hollywood, CA

Kelsey: Guidance Counselor from Austin, TX

Jade: Cosmetics Developer from Los Angeles, CA

Final thoughts about the premiere:

Chris is a breath of fresh air after the hot mess that was Juan Pablo. This season is a different story. As a hopeless romantic, I can only hope true love is waiting for him at the end of this journey.

Be sure and tune in Monday night at 7 p.m. on KSAT 12. You know I'll be watching!
