Man sentenced to 5 years for walking away from fatal accident No description found
SAN ANTONIO – A 25-year-old man was sentenced Friday to five years in prison for walking away from a fatal accident scene.
A Bexar County jury found Rodolfo Andres Rodriguez guilty Thursday of failure to stop and render aid–serious bodily injury or death.
According to the Bexar County District Attorney's Office, Rodriguez's car collided with a pickup truck in the 4600 block of Southwest Military Drive on May 16, 2012.
The driver of the pickup, Erik Arteaga, 25, was decapitated and died at the scene.
Rodriguez and his passenger left the scene and did not attempt to call for help or provide any information, the DA's office said.
Multiple witnesses testified during the trial that Rodriguez looked back toward the scene of the accident as he fled.
