The All-Star forward was considered to be the top free agent available this summer and being courted by several teams, but ultimately chose to come back to his home state of Texas and play alongside Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

Aldridge tweeted this message from his personal account Saturday morning.

A Spurs contingent that featured Coach Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Patty Mills met with Aldridge on Wednesday morning in Los Angeles to discuss his future with the franchise.

Aldridge took his scheduled meetings after the Spurs get together and was said to be "torn" between San Antonio and Phoenix.

Reports surfaced Friday afternoon that Coach Popovich and two Spurs assistant coaches had met with Aldridge for lunch in Los Angeles.

The second meeting with Coach Popovich reportedly left a lasting impression on Aldridge.

Aldridge turns 30 this month and has played for Portland his entire nine-year career. He has been an All-Star the past four seasons and was named All-NBA Second Team last season after averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds per game.

SPURS BUSY OFF SEASON CONTINUES:

The Spurs have apparently hit a home run in their pursuit of LaMarcus Aldridge, but they have been active since Day 1 of free agency and they are not done making moves. Here's a quick recap.

The Spurs agreed to a deal with Kawhi Leonard at the start of free agency reportedly worth $90 million over 5 years.

The Spurs then agreed to a deal with Danny Green worth $45 over 4 years. Green was said to have several suitors at the start of free agency.

In an effort to clear up cap space for the Aldridge deal, the Spurs traded Tiago Splitter to Atlanta.

The Spurs knew their pursuit of Aldridge would cost them depth on their bench. Aron Baynes agreed to a deal in Detroit and Marco Belinelli agreed to sign with Sacramento.

The Spurs are still in the race to sign veteran forward David West. Washington and now Cleveland are believed to be the Spurs biggest competitors.

We are all also awaiting Manu Ginobili's decision on whether he will return. Stay tuned.
