SAPD detectives arrest man suspected of fatal shooting

Police: Jose Carrizales, 24, accused of killing Dominic Spiller, 40

SAN ANTONIO – Officers assigned to the San Antonio Police Department's Repeat Offenders Program arrested a man Tuesday afternoon who is accused of shooting and killing a man in May.

Jose Carrizales, 24, will be charged with murder in the shooting death of 40-year-old Dominic Spiller.

Police spokesman Officer Douglas Greene said Spiller was fatally shot on May 24 inside a home located in the 3800 block of West Avenue.

Greene said homicide detectives developed enough information to get an arrest warrant for Carrizales.

Investigators said Carrizales went to Spiller's residence and shot him through a window. Spiller was found dead in a pool of blood inside his kitchen when officers arrived.

Detectives believe the motive for the slaying was related to a domestic disturbance between Spiller and a woman who had some kind of a relationship to Carrizales but that relationship is unknown.

A police report states in the days leading up to the shooting, a call was made from Spiller's residence reporting a domestic disturbance between Spiller and the mother of his child.

On May 23, the day before the shooting, the report states officers were called back to the residence to check out a report of a single shot fired from a fleeing vehicle.  The officers didn't find any evidence of a shooting at that time.
