Ex-employee charged in store burglary

Store employees helped identify Timothy Velarde for police

SAN ANTONIO – A 24-year-old man accused of breaking into the store he used to work at is charged with burglary.

According to an arrest affidavit, Timothy Velarde broke into the store in the 1500 block of Nogalitos Street on Nov. 20.

The store manager and store employees reviewed surveillance footage and identified the suspect.

Velarde allegedly knocked down another security camera facing a safe before walking out the back door, the affidavit stated.

The manager told police he saw Velarde use a large cowboy hat in an effort to hide his face.
