SAN ANTONIO – A Bexar County sheriff's deputy who hit and killed a pedestrian on Feb. 2 has been re-assigned from patrol duty to court security, the Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
The fatal crash happened on Donop Road in Southeast Bexar County, where Deputy Richard Hammock hit Lawrence Kindel, 33.
An investigation by the accident review board found that the crash was preventable, but it also found no criminal wrongdoing.
The agency acknowledged Hammock was speeding at the time of crash.
The Sheriff's Office said discipline against Hammock is pending.
