The water release means river levels will be more than 1,000 cubic feet per second.

Though the river will be closed to tubing, rafting and kayaking will be permitted, but guided trips are encouraged.

New Braunfels police said in a news release the flow rate on the Guadalupe River will be monitored daily and further notifications will be forthcoming when river conditions return to a safe level for tubing.

The level of the Comal River remains safe for tubing recreation.
