SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after a bizarre chain of events Monday night.
San Antonio police responded to a crash between a Ford Mustang and a Chevrolet truck just before 8:30 p.m. near the La Quinta Inn near East Houston Street and Interstate 37.
Police said the driver of the Mustang crashed into the parked truck.
The driver of the car got out of the car, called his father and told him he did not want to go to jail for the accident.
When the father arrived, he told his son it was not a big deal.
The 32-year-old man, who had a concealed handgun license, then went to a brushy area nearby and fatally shot himself.
Police said no other people were in danger and they are not sure why the man thought he would be arrested as a result of the accident.
