Woman killed, brother shot after answering knock at NE Side home

2 shooters escaped in red Dodge pick-up truck

SAN ANTONIO – A woman who along with her brother was shot after answering a knock at their Northeast Side home has died of her wounds, officials said Tuesday.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner has identified the woman as Joyce Medina, 27. Her 22-year-old brother, at last check, was still in critical condition at an area hospital.

San Antonio police said the siblings went to the door of their home, located in the 4300 block of Sun Vista Lane, after someone knocked on it around 11 p.m. Monday.

Police said two men immediately fired at the pair after they opened the door.

Medina was shot in the chest and neck, while her brother suffered a gunshot wound to his leg. Both were taken to the hospital where Medina later died.

Police said the two shooters escaped in a red Dodge pick-up truck which was driven away from the scene by a third person. Investigators are still looking for them.
