Police: Schertz man hit, killed by truck in New Braunfels

No charges expected

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – A man hit and killed while trying to cross the road Saturday in New Braunfels has been identified as a 19-year-old from Schertz, police said Sunday.

David Anthony Teniente Jr. was found unconscious in the grassy median just before 3:40 a.m., in the 6200 block of IH 35 south, according to a news release from the New Braunfels Police Department. Teniente Jr. wasn’t breathing when first responders arrived.

Teniente Jr. was hit by a 2015 Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old San Antonio man, officers said.

Teniente Jr. died at the scene of the crash.

Witnesses told police that the victim was trying to cross the southbound lanes of IH 35 when he was hit by the truck. No charges are expected to be filed.

The New Braunfels Police Department would like to thank those who called in tips about the victim’s identity.
